Cleaning Paramount as Latest Pandemic Threat Emerges

Before they enter the body, many pathogens – germs that are harmful to humans – are relatively easy to eliminate or control on surfaces. So many are in fact, that the role of modern cleaning and cleaning chemistry is absolutely critical to the cost-effective management of disease. The interruption of the infection process through control of objects they pass onto and from is known as breaking the "cross-contamination cycle."

Kansas Incubating New Business at Near Record Rate

The State of Kansas offers start-up business guidelines and aids. See the link at the bottom of this blog.Kansas may have budget headaches on the legislative level, but the small business sector is rolling out new business start-ups at an expanding rate. This would have to be a positive sign for both the short and long-term as small business makes up over half of all jobs in the United States - 65% of jobs created over the past 17 years, according to the Small Business Administration.

According to figures released by the Kansas Secretary of State's office, 2012 saw just over 15,000 new business filings in the state, up 10% from the prior year.

In 2012, PUR-O-ZONE introduced our first Small Business Specialist, Trey Collins. Trey's work provides a dedicated cleaning information resource for small businesses in the state, regardless of size. You can reach Trey here by email, or by calling 785-856-9458.

Surface Preparation Pads "Shrink" Floor Restoration

Are you using surface preparation pads when you restore hard surface flooring? If not, you are spending more money, using more chemistry and expending more labor hours than you need to. This is an important methodology issue that affects both floor maintenance department efficiency and floor care results.

Scotch-Brite™  Surface Prep Pads are engineered as environmentally preferable products. Hillyard maroon pads are designed to do a very similar job.

    What is the Approach?

Surface preparation pads, particularly when used with a super-efficient orbital floor machine such as the Advance Adfinity X20R "REV" scrubber, cuts out two major expenses in floor restoration. First, a great deal of material is removed that does not have to be dissolved and stripped by chemical means. Second, this removal is very fast comparatively. So the process is better for the environment, better for your people, and uses significantly less labor. If there is chemical stripping left to do, it is far less than the job would require otherwise.

Surface preparation pad use is part of a labor-reducing and environmentally conscious facility management program.

    Scotch-Brite™  Surface Prep Pads:
    •  Reduce the need for chemical strippers
    •  Are used with a simple, neutral cleaner or even water
    •  Help to reduce labor hours and material costs when stripping floors
    •  Effectively remove floor finish, leaving a clean surface ready for recoating
